WhatsApp Business verification: Meta Verified and the verified badge

A verified badge on WhatsApp Business means Meta has verified your business. In the WhatsApp Business app you apply through Meta Verified, a paid monthly subscription where it is available; on the Cloud API you request Official Business Account status. Subscribing does not guarantee the badge. Meta lists plans from US$14.99 to US$499.99 a month.

WhatsApp Business verification: Meta Verified, the verified badge and the old green tick

What is the WhatsApp verified badge, and what happened to the green tick?

The verified badge is a mark on a business profile that tells customers Meta has verified the account, based on its activity across Meta technologies or on information and documents the business provides. WhatsApp's Help Center calls it a verified badge, also known as a blue tick or blue checkmark, and says it can appear in the Calls tab, business profiles, context cards, chats and incoming calls from verified businesses.

Many people still search for the green tick, which is the name they used for the earlier badge. Meta's current help and developer pages describe the blue badge, so this guide says verified badge.

What is Meta Verified for Business on WhatsApp?

Meta Verified is a paid monthly subscription for businesses on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. On WhatsApp it includes impersonation protection, in-app support, verified channels, a business web page, more linked devices on the higher plans and the option to apply for a verified badge. Subscribing does not automatically give you the badge: your business is either verified automatically from its activity, asked for optional documents, or subscribed without verification, and you keep the other benefits in all three cases.

  • Prices are the ones Meta lists on its Meta Verified page in October 2026; the plans offered to you depend on your business activity and region.
  • Business Premium adds 10 protected business accounts and Business Max adds 50.
  • Meta Verified subscribers also get access to WhatsApp's advertising tools, such as Click to WhatsApp ads and business broadcasts.
  • Meta One is a separate optional subscription that bundles benefits across Meta's apps. Like Meta Verified, subscribing to it does not automatically give a verified badge.
  • A verified badge is not permanent: Meta can ask for further verification and remove the badge if it is not completed.

Who is eligible, and is it available in Saudi Arabia?

Meta says Meta Verified is rolling out gradually and is available in select regions. Its help pages do not list the countries, so we cannot confirm availability in Saudi Arabia. To check your own account, open the WhatsApp Business app, go to Settings or Business Tools and tap Meta Verified. If the option is missing, it is not available to you yet.

  • You must be at least 18 and have a phone number in a country where Meta Verified for businesses is available.
  • The WhatsApp Business account must have been on the app for a certain number of days, have sent a message recently, and have a profile name and profile picture.
  • It must not already have an active Meta Verified subscription through Meta Business Suite.
  • The subscription is not available to certain categories of businesses, such as government and political organizations.

How do I apply for Meta Verified on WhatsApp?

  • The business name you verify must match your documents, and a WhatsApp profile name that differs from the business name can block verification.
  • If your business is newly registered and is not found, Meta suggests trying again after four weeks.
  • Editing your business profile after you become verified can cost you the badge, and only your four most recently used linked devices remain linked.
  • Switching the account from the WhatsApp Business app to WhatsApp Messenger removes verified status.
  1. Open the WhatsApp Business app, tap Tools, then Meta Verified. If you do not see it, it is not available to you yet.
  2. Tap Continue and choose the plan Meta recommends for your business.
  3. Select the account to verify. You can bundle linked Facebook or Instagram accounts and verify them together.
  4. Pay for the first month. Meta says the payment is refunded if it cannot verify your business.
  5. Select your business, choose a verification method and provide the information it asks for, such as a confirmation code or a photo ID.
  6. Wait for the result. Verification can take up to three business days, and longer when volumes are high.

What is an Official Business Account on the Cloud API?

Businesses on the Cloud API do not use the Business app subscription. Instead they can request Official Business Account (OBA) status, and Meta's developer documentation says OBA numbers show a blue checkmark beside their name in the contacts view. The request is made in WhatsApp Manager, or through the API.

  • The business must comply with the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy.
  • The number must have been registered on the WhatsApp Business Platform for at least 30 days.
  • The business portfolio must be verified through Meta's Business Verification.
  • Two-step verification must be enabled on the number, and the display name must be approved.
  • OBA status is not granted to WhatsApp Business app numbers, test accounts or employees. After a rejection you can submit a new request after 30 days.

Does a Shopify store need the verified badge?

Not to sell on WhatsApp. A badge can add confidence for customers who have never heard of you, but most stores earn trust with simpler things: a consistent profile name and logo, a website link, clear business hours and fast replies. Weigh the monthly subscription against what you would gain, and be cautious of anyone who sells a guaranteed green tick, because Meta verifies through the WhatsApp Business app and its own tools and says subscribing alone does not guarantee the badge.

WhatsApp Pilot, a Shopify app by E-SAFQA, connects the number you already use as a linked device by QR code, so it uses one of your linked-device slots. See /blog/whatsapp-linked-devices-guide for the limits.
